my other summer project is to herculine (or use some other form of bedliner) on the tub of my TJ. ive read a ton of write ups and reviews and it seems to be a pretty straight forward job.

Just wondering if you guys had any input or advice when doing the job.

Hey Zach,
One of the best things I did to my TJ last summer! It is a straight forward job, just take your time that's the best advice...pull everything out of the tub, seats, center console etc...do it with good ventilation or wear a mask. I also herculined my flairs and rocker guards and they are holding up really well, and this spring I just went in with a can of rust-oleum and a brush and painted right over it to brighten it up...worked great!

I Herculined my interior about 3 years ago and it's holding up great. Just take your time in the prep work and wear gloves, it dosen't come off skin very easily. Otherwise it is straight forward.

I just finished putting herculine in my tub, went ahead and covered fenders flares like steve, also made some nice entry guards and covered top of back bumper. Your back seat brackets should have a nut underneath all of them and might be tough to get out...my bolts were rusted through. Other than that didnt have too much trouble. Be sure to get xylene it really helps to take off places you dont want covered that get covered by accident...make sure you take it off before the herculine drys though. good luck with lining you shouldnt have any trouble

Hey Zach,
try looking into speedliner, I did that about three months ago and it is awesome. It is a spray-on bedliner so you have to have a hopper gun but its thicker than herculiner. At the same time my buddy did the hurculiner and he just loves it. In comparrison to both of ours his is a little thinner but easier to work with when applying it. Mine since it is shot out of a hopper is messy. Speedliner is thicker thus allows less sound to travel through it. Herculiner is thin but has the same affect of not letting things slide around the back.
Overall I liked the speedliner and performs really good for all the stuff i put on it.
If your going for a type of bedliner just to protect your tub at a price of 60-80$ id say go with the herculiner. I was able to find 2 gallons of speedliner for 60$ in my area so that worked out great for me. Good luck to you, and wear a respirator

ditto. I coated my tub at least 4years ago because pooling water was rusting the passenger's side floor. holding up well. you do need to scrape and wash and xylene wash just like the directions say. and it will not come off your hands until the skin does. i didnt believe it and had black fingers for weeks.

welp if you order through quadratec they send almost everything you need. Use a brush and roller to apply...dab the brush. I used two coats..thick enough for me. you can always apply more later because it binds to itself so you can really make it as thick as you want. I used a gallon...this did two coats in tub, fenders and on top of back bumper. Im not sure if anyone has it cheaper than quadratec most autozones sell it but i think its bout the same price you might be able to save on shipping though.

How has yours held up? A gallon seems like plenty for me then.

I was wanting to do this too just wasn't looking forward to all the prep work. Sounds like in the long run it's worth it though.

After speaking with quite a few people who've Herc-ed their Jeep, & seeing the results myself, I decided just to have mine sprayed with Line-X. Most people I talked to said if they could do it over they would have just saved up & had it done right.

Quotes on Line-X are around $350 and up even if you remove everything and mask it off yourself. Plus I enjoy the satisfaction of doing it myself and I know it was "done right". I got three coats on the interior out of one gallon. Most auto parts stores sell the Herculiner kit that comes with everything you need but usually only carry black. If you want Grey (which I did) or blue, you will need to get it from Q-tec.

Man.. only $350.. The Rhino/Line-x places around here won't touch a Jeep for under $600.
