I am going to change my rear 35 to an 8.8 in the next 6mths and have questions.

I run 31x10.5 BFG AT or MTs, 2"BB lift. I plan on going to a 3 - 4" lift in the next year or so.
In going to the 8.8 with 373 gears, do I need to change the drive shaft and go with a SYE. I have seen a few posts that say no, most say yes. Read one post where they used the front drive shaft from a cherokee and cut it to have the CV drive shaft. Others say that the EOM shaft will work.

I could use some clarity here.

Most of my 4x is beach sand or mud. Rock is limited to places like the Black Gap trail at Big Bend.

4 liter, 5 speed.
