Guys,
Well I purchased and installed a 1" M.O.R.E (Mountain Off-Road Enterprises) motor mount lift (torison rubber style) and a 1" M.O.R.E body lift kit. The body lift went on really easy, not a single bolt was stuck or needed penetrating oil  . The motor mounts were not to bad, the drivers side is the worse, but it still wasnt as bad as i was planning.

Anyways, I followed all the directions step-step. The jeep drives fine, but the transfer case is still troubling me. I have a 4.0L 2001TJ with auto trans. With the Jeep in park, I can put it in 4H, N, and 4L without a problem. Although, when i put the jeep in drive and move about 5ft and then put the brakes on, i tried to down shift to 2WD again but is started to GRIND like CRAZY . It does both 4L and 4H. So I tried the same thing again but with the tranny in Neutral. Same thing again. So basically it only grinds when going from 4H, 4L or N down to 2wd.

I played with the linkage for about and hour trying to adjust the bolt that allows adjustment of the linkage. This made no difference on the grinding probelm. All this seemed to affect was how well the shifter moved.

So I am out of ideas and I am seeking help. Please let me know any ideas, pictures would be nice if they help me understand.

Thanks
Matt

you have to move the entire linkage down. simply drill out some holes and relocate. you could also do an advanced adaptor shifter linkage purchase. it gets it off the body. your linkage is bolted to the body. so when you lifted it up 1" you most likely created a bind problem. just drill it out 1" lower if your a cheap bastard like me and it'll be fine. i had the same prob w/my 97. the lil bolt that you have to adj the handle's linkage plays no role. you need to move the whole unit down. hope this helps

well the kit came witha relocation bracket. the bracket bolts the the mount which has the 4 bolts that run into the drivers side foot well. this bracket gives you 2 options for a place to mount it. I put it in the upper one which was the closest to the original position since i only have a 1 inch lift. so you are saying i need to move down to the next set?

The stock mounts just plain suck. My friend had the same problem with his, luckily when he put the bracket on with his bl, it was solved, but still does not shift correctly. I would suggest just buying the bracket that moves it completely off the body, and avoid all problems that you can face with a motor/bl lift.

Stupid
Ever since I changed the bracket to an AA bracket, I haven't had any issues anymore with the shifter (not with the BL/MML and not when I went with a belly up)

When I installed my BL and MML I installed the Novak shifter flip kit. Skyjacker also makes a kit that moves the mounting location off of the floor body. The bracket that came with the body lift will work. I know it's frustrating and time consuming, but it will work out.

regardless of who's kit you buy i honestly suspect that the bracket is your problem. good luck at whatever you do and keep us informed of your fix.
