ANY OF YOU GUYS SEE A PROBLEM WITH RUNNING 75W-140 SYNTHETIC IN MY TRANNY?

THATS WHATS SUPPOSED TO GO IN THE AXLES AND SINCE ITS HEAVY DUTY STUFF I THOUGHT ID TRY IT IN THE TRANNY.

I USED TO RUN 80W-90 IN MY OLD JEEP(99 W/NV 3550 SWAPPED IN) THE FOLKS AT JEEP TELL ME I CAN ONLY RUN NV3500 TRANS FLUID! Confused
WELL THE STUFF THAT CAME OUT OF THE TRANNY SMELLED AND LOOKED A LOT LIKE 80W-90.
THANKS!!!

LATER

JASON

I wouldn't take the chance with mine. Advance is so fussy about using the right oil, that they won't ship you a tranny without the oil being in it.

I agree with Pete, I use the fluid from mopar, but check out this website www.getahelmet.com go to the maintenance section, lot's of info there, he states that he used Redline 5w-30 synthetic in his 3550. I've heard that you will have shifting difficulty if you use the improper fluid. Rockcrawler

oh well...i put the mopar stuff in.

it cost me $9 from the dodge dealership down the road. Frown the 75w-140 cost me the same since mobile makes it for toyota, i think jeep/dodge sells it for $16 over the counter.

thanks for the help. Smile

A few months back I installed the Hurst shifter and drove around with the floor pan and inner boot removed and heard horrible noises from my trans which was a bummer after running Redline MTL and hearing it was good. I went to Dodge and got what they recommended, immediately I was rewarded with what felt like a new trans. Use whats listed in the book!
