Okay, what are your thoughts on the Long Arm upgrade by teraflex, by all means I know it isn't full traction, Nth Degree, or RE. For someone who is almost done with college and a little extra pocket money would it be worth the 1,200? Place input below... Never, Never, Never Quit - W. C. |

Alright, so for those who are interested....
I have found this system does not work very well with stock short upper arms. It is very heavily recommended to get after market uppers. I have decided to go with the RE long arm kit and buy some RE front uppers as well. Any thoughts on that? Never, Never, Never Quit - W. C. |

Three or four years ago I needed adj upper arms, couldn't get the RE's anywhere at the time and went with Tera. I wasn't impressed with materials chosen, thin metal for the brackets and bushing tube, squeaky poly bushing also IIRC, RE's are much more stout! Tera may have changed material since then, but I'm not gonna spend my hard earned $$ to see, I replaced 'em and tossed 'em after about a year, not even worth selling to somebody else.
Since I don't know what you're starting with, I can't offer much more then general stuff based on my experience with RE. The arms are rebuildable for about $10 an end, which is nice when the bushings wear out. The superflex joints can be taken apart, cleaned, and tightened probably about 4 times or more before you have to spend the $10 for the plastic inserts. My personal preference would be to have the frame inserts welded in place when installing the skid. Guessing from your post, you don't have the RE kit installed that the longarm upgrade is supposed to build off of, so you'd end up piecing something together and probably having some issues, a better route may be to get the 4.5" Superflex, and sell whatever you have currently. They cost exactly the same and you'll get a complete kit with all adjustable uppers, adj front track bar, brakelines, you only need shocks. Any good dealer will sell it with the spring size of your choice, such as 3.5" if you don't want the full 4.5" lift. Then you are poised later on to add the longarm upgrade without issues. I have this lift on both my Jeeps, one with 3.5" springs and 31's, the other with 4.5" springs and 33's, and it works great. Yes longarm would work better on the road, but off road I don't see much difference between mine and the longarm folks on the same trail. Shocks still limit droop the same, I'm not using my control arms as sliders, and I think I have a slight advantage on steep uphills. Call around a few dealers and you'll probably find a better price then what's advertised on the RE website. Hope this helps, Good luck, Mark To boldly go where we're too stupid to know any better. I've manged to sell everything via craigs list and saved tons of money compared to e-bay. No shipping and it goes to someone local who can pick it up.
I'm an RE guy also - took me years to break a RE kit - and I was really pushing it at the time. I moved from a short arm RE kit to a long arm kit but they gave me all the specks so I could save parts and save money - one of the few kits manufactures that I would do this with. |

I know that I might be a little late chiming in on this but i just got out of college and most of the time have been broke. I saved up for the Teraflex LCG. i was running dana 30 and 35 open and the lift works great. I can get around really well without lockers and the performance is awesome.
A lot guys ***** and moan that Teraflex isnt as good but I have no complaints. (I have nothing personal against RE it is just that everyone and there mom runs it) but the rest of my family runs RE and Dana 60's and I keep up with them 95% of the time, with no problem. So if you still looking that is my 2 cents. 2000 TJ Sport, Teraflex LCG, 37" Goodyear Wranglers, Poison Spyder Goodies front to rear, Dana 60's |

Good advice, I have a couple of extra bucks laying around and I should be saving since im still in college. However, my main goal was to obtain a better highway/street ride opposed to my short arm kit. I have the tera s4t (4in, with arms and junk) and my theory was that increasing the control arms would absorb more shock and allow more travel. Is this true???

Yeah it is true, you will get a lot more travel, as far as shocks go the ones that teraflex lift kits come are a little soft on the trail, but the upside to that is that when you are really flexing it does not feel like it is fighting back. Another nice feature with teraflex is that you dont get that body roll in the right rear corner when you rev the engine.
