I'm mad! I lent my tools and bottle jack to a friend. I picked them up this morning, and stopped to pick up some milk. I should have known better, because my top is off right now. You guessed it. Somebody stole the whole thing. I couldn't have been in there for more than two minutes. I'm pi$$ed.. Mad

My Snap on craftsman mix box is all I've got right now. I'd hate to loose it. When I get the house done the good tools are staying put in the Garage. Someone wants to us them, then they are using the garage too.

I need a cheap/reliable set for the Jeep so I don't loose much if they are stolen.

**** Pete.. Sorry. Got a homeowners policy? They might cover something like that.

Yo Pete ... whereabouts were you when it happened? Any identifying marks, or perhaps even a notion of vehicles in the area. A bunch of us are headed for our place in Erwin to do some benign trailing and, of course fireworks watching.

I was in the Stater Bros. parking lot. I parked next to an old pickup, and the parking lot was jammed full. I'm just guess, but it would have been easy to grab the box, and throw it in the bed of the pickup. It was gone when I came out. I'm just guessing though.

btw..I have no insurance to cover it. It was sitting out in the open. It was one of the few times my dog wasn't with me. Figures.

There's something about the Stater Bro's lot.

Oldest son and I stopped for groceries late one night after a quick trip up the hill and parked next to a pretty new mini pickup. We were in a Dodge Ram Charger with one of those death-before-dishonor steel rear bumpers. Son and other truck's drivers came out at the same time. Son had just closed his door on that side, and the two adjacent threw their groceries in the pickup bed and backed out very fast. They were obviously 3 sheets to the wind and hoisting #4. They hooked the front of their truck on that bumper, leaving parts of their car all over the parking lot as they rabbit'ed. We picked up all the parts, put 'em in a bag and dropped 'em at the Sheriff's station. Told the desk "Find the pickup missing this stuff and you'll find a hit and run'er." Not even a mark on the bumper, but I still have nightmares of "what if" son was still outside the car when they did that Mad

Once when streets were pretty slick with snow and ice, there was a rear ender right across BB Blvd from Staters. Sheriff car was right there, so pulled over to take data. Just as he got out of his car, some whiz kid rear ended him really hard. "In snow and ice, don't drive any faster than you want to hit something!"

There's more, but those left a real imprint. Your experience obviously now will rank pretty high on my SB parking lot hi jinx list. If it weren't for the bakery, I'd be thinking about shopping across the street now that the light is there to help the left turners.

Sure hope your stuff turns up ... major bummer ... keep a sharp eye, 'cuz ya never know.

Pete, your home owners/renters policy will cover theft from your vehicle. My wife is a property adjuster and does it all the time. Also check the local pawn shops. Here in Texas they have to keep any item taken in for 30 days b-4 they can sell them. If you have a police report then you can make them hold the items until the po-po can come out and get them back for you. Tough luck man.

My home owners insurance is an 80 lb Pit Bull, and he's not buying me new tools.

If locals took them, they are probably sitting in someones garage. If they were taken off the mountain. I'll never find them.

I've already kissed them goodby, and I don't have much of a desire to buy them again.

I'm not sure if i'll be going wheeling with you guys tommorow. I'm in a crappy mood.

Sounds like that 80lb. Pit needs newtered, (sp?). Anyway I hate to see you give up so easy. Ins. policies are diffirent from state to state but I would think that they would still pay for that kind of thing, regardless of state. Then again you do live on the "LEFT" coast. Y'all are a little different out there. It also depends on what your deductible is. Most are 1% of your mortgage and in CA that can get really high, really fast. Good luck with it partner. One other thing I just thought of. Why don't you make a list of all the tools you had and post it here. Then those of us with extras can send you a little gift or two. We Jeepsters gotta stick together man.
