I gave up on my TJ as a daily driver. It came to a head last week when my wife almost put it into a wall on the freeway. She was cut off and made a great recovery but it was to close for my comfort. I take her Liberty when I need to go out of town and she's stuck with the TJ.

Add that to our Rubicon adventure that included filling a leaky power steering pump, ripping a sidewall and having to drive home 500 miles on swampers with out a spare. I can still hear those tires even after 3 months. My wife said that she wants her Jeep back and I need to drive my TJ from now on. And she also added that if I want to got to the Rubicon next year count her out....

So what was I to do. I asked her if she wants me to get rid of my Jeep. She said my I should get another vehical. I said what should I get? She said I don't care but it better get better MPG than my Jeep. And it better be able to fit all of us(3 people) and that I better never get a lift on too. I said ok, and went looking. The first thing I looked at was an unlimited it rode nice but I didn't seem to do it for me. It's seemed to low.

Next was a H2 it rode nice but the MPG wasn't going to cut it along with the High Price $$$$$. So just about to give up I pulled into a Dodge dealer I looked around and found the answer a Dodge Ram 3500, Quad Cab, 4x4, limited slip, Cummins 600 short wheel base, single rear wheel, ect... So I gave a call to the wife and asked if she could pick up her jeep so I could drive the 3500 home.

So the moral to the story is that my TJ is now a trailer queen, I never thought it would happen but it has....

i've stated several times i would never buy a dodge, but at least you got the ctd good choice!! i took one of the '05's for a spin yesterday the tranny shifts much nicer now!! i might just have to buy one to to my tj the bronco is getting old and i want a deisel really bad, then it would give me an excuse to buy a 5th wheel that the tj would fit into Big Grin

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!

HEy, My Jeep is now retired from its DD duties as well. It's been raised to offroad toy status.

In the driveway now: a new DODGE Magnum 5.7L hemi

With the wife's new car, I get my truck as a daily driver (F250 PSD)

Looking in to getting a heavy duty toy hauler to load the Jeep onto.

The best part of all is I'm getting around 17 mpg city/highway with the AC on. That's about 500+ miles between fill ups. My TJ was around 190 miles between fills 19 gal tank and ac blasting. It doesn't make much since because the 3500 is about 7,000 pounds.... Anyways I wonder if that Cummins would fit in a TJ..... Big Grin

HUM thats a sad story matt glad to hear your wife was ok but my TJ was a trailer queen from the day i bought it!Real jeeps are built not bought to drive everyday. however it is nice to have a jeep that the wife can drive around if needed or wanted ! my CJ was NEVER SAFE TO DRIVE!! as to my tow right its a 97 chevy crew cab dually with a tweaked out 6.5 turbo diesel that will run all day long at 80mph and get 15mpg loaded or empty towing or not. just my 2 bits tom

p/s still thinking about selling your tera low kit?

even though it's an old thread revival ... I've been pretty lucky while flat towing my TJ for the past 2-3 years. After last year's struggle coming from Colorado (on the way in I did the Million Dollar Highway into Ouray) with the TJ behind the ZJ, I knew I was going to need something decent.
I ended up with a 96 CTD and from now on the TJ is being trailered to the events and outings (unless just South of town) for more peace of mind (especially after the roll over last year).

But the TJ still is being used as a DD, especially now that the ZJ is gone Wink
