I just bought an 06 Wrangler X and I found a deal for a set of 5 BFG 33x12.5 brand new for $400 and i couldnt pass it up. My only problem is that my stock wheels are 15x7 and i need atleast 15x8. If you have any and you are willing to sell or trade let me know. I will trade my stock set(wheels and tires w/ less than 4000 miles) for a set of 5 15x8 wheels. Thanks
P.S. take a look at the attachment. those are what i am willing to trade. Jason This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jeep23831, wheels.jpg (12 Kb, 28 downloads) |

Some tire shops will buy your old tires if they have decent tread, I know I got what amounted to 20% off from Discount Tires when I got my first set of tires for my Jeep. That may be enough to offset the cost of some 15 x 8 wheels. Unless you go crazy, aluminum is about $75 ea, steel is a bit cheaper, but heavier and will cost you a bit faster wear and tear on your suspension and a bit more fuel usage.

When you go with 12.5s, you generally end up needing wheels with more offset. Otherwise you'll do a lot of rubbing. Just selecting a tires size and rolling the dice on which wheels someone will trade or sell you sounds like a loser to me.
My suggestion is to find another jeeper with a similar model TJ and talk to them. Jeepers are almost all friendly. They're also willing to talk about their mistakes. Spend/invest some time looking at others rigs. If you've already bought your tires, narrow your search to other jeeps that run that same size. Look carefully at the wheels they run. What Dick said is very true and important.
That being said, you should look for 15x8s with about 3.5"-3.75" of backspacing. That will fit your 33s, not rub and not stick your tires way outside the body. If there is a good 4wd shop near you, stop in a talk with them. Owner - Mountain Valley Customs 570-217-7284 |
