alrighty then gents,

looking for some more input in regards to putting the cold air intake, 62mm throttle body & spacer on the good old i-6.

i am hearing that fuel economy goes down because of that. not totally understanding since i would not be installing larger injectors.

i thought those items were just making for better air flow. does the computer adjust by pushing more fuel into the cylinders for any extra air getting in there?

look forward to every ones input..

I talked to Benny Phulps at Hesco about this a while back, he says the 62mm throttle body is for strokers, and on a stock 6 it'll cause a flat spot at lower revs where you want the power. Give them a call, they know more about Jeep engine upgrades then I do. While talking to him, he basically talked me out of the header and cat back sys, very good guy. I did get his cold air intake and throttle body spacer, about $100 or so less then the K&N or equivelent. Very pleased with them.

I believe the computer may adjust some but yes there is a flat spot on the low end with headers and intake I've experienced great mid and upper rpm gains. Down low when is matters in 4x4 I wasn't sorry.

So has anyone had any issues with the AEM Brute Force? Mine just arrived the other day but it will be a few weeks before I can put it on since the wife has the Jeep in TX. I didn't order a 62mm throttle body. Just the intake and the spacer that came with it.

well Dennis, on mine I've had the Airaid K&N FIPK and Poweraid throttle body spacer and now that I've got the new (to me) engine in there and none of that stuff on there -> I don't notice a difference.
There might be a difference, but it's so marginal that you won't feel it (you might want to feel it though, since you just about spend an arm and a leg on it).

just my 2 cents ...

I have to say the number one reason I bought the AEM was because it was time to replace my air filter, and I hoped the Jeep would breath a little easier with the it. I do plan to replace the header and exhaust down the road. I may not see any real gains with the AEM or exhaust mods particularly since I'll be piece milling the set up. But my thoughts are since the 4.0L is in such need of power, every little bit I can get, surely can't hurt it. My biggest fear with the the AEM or any other aftermarket air intake, is sucking up water. So once I install it, my deep water crossing days will come to a hault unless I do other mods and a snorkel.

I have the AEM Brute Force on my TJ and like it. Dyno tests show it will give you 10 to 15 more HP, which seems about right to me. But the biggest benefits come at higher RPMS. So it's nice on the highway.

Personally, I would never have bought one myself, but since I won it in a raffle I thought I would give it a try and I've been happy with it.

I have had the K/N Filter Charger Kit on my 06 Rubicon since about 400 miles. I have driven 4 different 14 hour drives with it and it is noticeable at the gas pump and highway speeds. I got mybe 2 to 3 more miles per gallon on the highway and the power was better. I have also had two other friends with older wranglers ride and they noticed the difference. I think for the $200 it cost it was worth it.
