i currently have an edlebrock crate 350 in my cj5. i am cooling it with a "Be Cool" aluminum radiator and a Be Cool puller electric fan. i had a 195 tempature sending unit in the radiator to fire the fan and it would run at temps of 210 to 220 on the highway and worse off road, so i went to a 185 tempature sening unit to fire the fan and it still runs water temps at around 200 to 210 and this is in the winter in montana! if anyone has any suggestions i would realy appriciate it. would it be better to run a manual belt diven fan and shoud? thanks adam

if the fan setup you have with the radiator is the one recommended by the manufacturer, then it should cool it. do you have a shroud? that would help alot.

yes this is the set up be cool recomends, and the electric fan does have a shroud. i am going to move the temp sensor from the radiator to the intake manifold so it read engine temp not radiator temp, mabey that will help? thanks

what temp thermostat are you running? You can also add a pusher fan in front of the radiator. this is what i did on my cj-5 with a 350. i just put it on a toggle switch because it really only needed to be on in stop and go traffic on hot days. although i had to have it on almost all the time off road. you could use both your sending units and have one come on at 185 and 1 come on at 195. check the t-stat first though.

Electric fans just cant compete with mechanical fans. I have a built amc 360 bored, stroked, headwork done etc. With a 3300 cfm puller fan with a shroud, alum water pump, high flow 180 degree thermostat and 40 below in the alum radiator i would idle at 195-200 and hard wheeling it would go up to 220-230. The hood also has louvers and the headers are jet coated to keep down the heat in the engine compartment. I put a 6 blade mechanical fan on and now it idles 180 and hard wheeling 195ish.

one of my buddy's has a 350 in his truck, uses a mechanical fan, i have no clue what radiator he wound up using but as far as i know its a stock one of some type.
for my 258 (for what it's worth) i have a WAY bigger rad than necessary with stock therm and pump. have the fan as a pusher mounted on the front of the radiator and it works great. I have it on a switch...and its off as long as i am driving and i leave if off most of the time...it takes about 30 minutes for it to boilover if i forget to turn the fan on off-road. i have heard about people that have a high flow pump it flows too fast for it to be dissipated. 82 Jeep CJ-7 258 bored .40 over, 4.0 head, tfi upgrade, weber 32/36, custom 2.5" exhaust, no emissions, manual electric fan (blower), 3-core 360 rad for GW d30, amc20 w/ 1-piece axles, trussed d300 xfer twin stick tf999 rebuilt w/ trans-go reprogram kit, b&m shifter, transcooler 88 tub\cage, cj dash, cj frontend 3" black diamond sua 1.75" lift shackles 1" body lift custom hd steering box mount waggy 4 turn steering box upgrade |

i used a bunch of differant push and pull fans untill i used a dubble fan and my cj5 was working grate for me i thought about useing a mech fan but i didnt want a fan moving when i would go into water/mud i did want the fan to hit my rad so that is why i went with the ele fan. i dont know what kind of wheeling u do this is my 2 cents
