Howdy ya'll.....I think it is finally time to adress the serious amount of rust and "extra" ventilation caused by the swiss cheese look the side and bottom of my tub have. For those of you who have done this....how hard is it to get everything back on and RUNNING (mostly I'm worried about getting all the electrical back in place)? If you've done this let me know a time frame and your adeptness at doing it. I appreciate the help.

I am just finishing a comeplete make over. Started with a CJ-7, used a fair YJ tub and all CJ stuff that I could fit. I also did axles, suspension, paint and body work, gears, electrical etc. Because of changing nearly everything and all the fab work I spent about 1 1/2 years on the project.
Electrical was not a problem to re-hook back up. Plan to spend twice as long as you are thinkin if you are doing mods as well as bolt ons.

Here is what I am ending up with:

First of all 401TON nice rig!!!!

And U_Kon it's not hard if you have some basic mechanical skills. It is very time consuming and always seem to take longer then expected. But it's very straight forward.

My only real advise is to take your time and label / mark everything and take lots of pictures.

Good luck

I used a roll of masking tape and labeled everything 1a. and 1b. and so on to make reasembly easier. It could be months or longer and it just save some time.

to do it right it'll take time and patience Smile
And like said: labeling everything (even nuts and bolts) really helps out a lot.

If certain nuts/bolts go along with a certain part I tend to tape them to it ... even though a good mechanic should always have leftovers once the job is finished, right? Wink

Thanks for all the input. As I have been contmeplating whether or not to do this, the Jeep gods pushed me over the cliff this weekend as my rear passenger spring hanger broke off....well it didn't break, but it seems the frame did. I assume there are those of you out there that have done some frame repairs of some sort. What are some tips here. It is the last 6in of the frame that i intend to replace with some similiarly shaped steel with a plate internally to link the old to the new piece as well as a plate on the outside welded on(perhaps integrated into both sides)and then bolted together linking it all together. What do ya'll think and have I left anything out?

I am in Houston. I don't know if I want to run a whole new frame( engine removal, running gear removal, ETC), more importantly...I don't know if I will have the time to get it all done( I am moving in 4 months and I want to at least have the tub bolted back on and everything rolling at least). I've been looking for a new tub, but that is next to impossible unless you want to spend 1000 bucks. I think that I could repair the frame pretty well, but just in case...where are you? And thanks for the offer.

I always used small ziplock baggies and labeled them with what part they went to--for me it made the build alot more enjoyable.
