Hi Guys,
I came across your page while researching my 3b project and found your articles useful. I am new to crawling but I have a long history of building anything wheeled. about two years ago I was given a 53' cj3b from my brother. To make a long story short and after cutting the tree out from between the frame rails, I was the proud owner of a 53' Willy's jeep that had long ago been parted out and left for the gods of rust and ruin. The two reasons I decided to build this was two fold, one was that it was free ( other that driving four hours and going to a mountain top pasture to get it) and two was, I have always wanted a true Jeep to build. I am at the stage of almost having the tub completely done (body work); I am working now on designing the frame, suspension and drive line. With my limited knowledge of rockcrawling, my question is, how short is to short a rear driveline, i plan to use the venerable 241c/TH400 combo w/V-8: I know it will work but what considerations have i overlooked in this ambitious undertaking. Or do I consider a manual slush box because of length considerations.. Thanks for any feedback/help reform02
