Check out www.tx4wd.org and look for the Austin chapter. They're a good club. But I have to say that. I'm the VP of the D/FW chapter. Big Grin

Im so glad to see someone from central tx wanting to get into offroadingSmile I lived in belton (just down the street from austin) for 5 years 99-04 and i helped many organized offroad groups to go offroading. Here is the deal. Austin does not have much offroading except for illegal stuff. but down the road is Ft. Hood which is the largest army base in the US. They have miles of tank and hummer trails they use for practice. You can get a permit from the base to drive on their land and fish their lakes but its around $50. When you do that they will allow you to drive in certain areas of the base. I suggest you stay near the city of Belton side of the base. There is a public park near all these trails called BOLARA (Belton Outdoor Lake And Recreation Area)on Sparta RD. Just ask for directions to that park.. there is no offroading allowed there but if you cross the street you will see all these trails that lead into the hills... thats where you can go... you need at least 31" tires but mostly stock can make it.. there is stuff for every type of vehicle. Be careful, have fun, and definitly go with a buddySmile Have fun wheeling...

Of Course it runs!!
