My 77 cj7 has quadratrac and i would like to swap out my T-case, but i do not know if there is more to it than that to get rid of the quadratrac. is there any thing to do with quadratrac in the front and rear axles? i have an amc20 rear and D30 front. i guess what i am wondering is to get rid of the quadratrac can i just swap transfercase or is it mor involved?

You will need to replace the rear axle as well as the t-case. As the rear axle is offset in the Quadratrac. Where are you planning to go with this build? Now would be the time to go wide trac axles. If your plans include a Dana 44 then a good candidate is an 80 or newer IH Scout for the rear. Then a wide trac 44 front out of a waggy. Or for that matter both axles out of the waggy. Make sure they're not Quadratrac.

A Dana 18 has the rear ouput offset like the QT but you would need to swap the tranny (or use an adapter). Changing out the rear end is probably the cheapest way to go. You have a narrow track rear end and people are almost giving those away.

The front axle offset is the same for QT and non QT CJ's.

I went from a QT to a spare Dana300 with Scout Dana 44's front and rear. Wider stance and more stability, plus you have cheaper gearing options. 300 will hold up to 350 power and will take much of what you can throw at it.

79 CJ7, Scout Dana 44's F/R OX locked with 4.10's, Revolvers front and working on 3/4 in the rear, healthy 350, HD-TH400, Dana 300 twin sticked, PMP High Steer knuckles and tie rod/ drag link setup, 4 inch springs, beer coozie holder
