I'm brand new to the board here and thought it might be a good place to find an answer to my problem.
I have a 78 CJ7 with a Chevy 350. I am getting ready to convert it to Tuned Port Injection and I need to install a fuel return line. The tank I have is a custom made stainless steel tank but I believe it has the stock CJ sending unit. I would much rather find/use a sending unit from a YJ/TJ that was fuel injected and already has a return line. It would also be cheaper for this set up using an in tank fuel pump vs an external inline pump which are high $$$!
I would keep the current tank and add a return line. I don't think you need much pressure for the projection. I believe a Jeep TJ needs 70 psi or something stupid like that. I got one from a 93 Ford f250 fuel pump I think it was like $60. The TJ in tank pump/filter/sending unit is EXPENSIVE. Plus your tank needs to be deep enough for it and you have to built up a flange to install it. Good Luck

My 86 Cj has a return line. The return line runs down the drivers side frame rail. I don't know what year this started but I know the 82 thru 86 has it. And you can buy an inline pump from Jegs for $60.
