I was driving home today after taking the ACT, and a CJ for sale caught my eye, I stopped to look, and here is what I found.
1977 CJ-5 For $3700 with a number. I called the number, and the guy tells me its a fresh rebuilt 304 C.I. V8, with a 4 Barrel Carb, Moderate Cam, New lifters etc, new headers and true duals, and a rebuilt 4spd. He goes on to say that the lift on it is a 4 inch lift, and that it has a new top and doors. He also says that it shifts nice, and that the transfer case and 4x4 engage good, and the only defects are some minor scratches in paint, and some patched rips in the seats. It has a bedlinered interior, and is devoid of any rock rash or other defects just looking at it, I can also find no evidence of rust. When I go and drive it and look at it real good tomorrow, what are some potential problems/issues I should look for? I am still very skeptical because of the nice condition and low price, for the most part CJ's around here sell for around 5-6 for the average.

CJ5's have a narrow track compared to CJ7's They turn over easier. I would not want a 5 for off road. You'll need to make your own decision on that issue.
