Just redid the wire harness on my 80 cj7 with the "painless" kit. Turns out it's not so painless. My entire tail section is not functioning properly. Signals dont work at all, brakes are constantly on so I have no running lights, rev is the only part working right. I've gone over the entire system 4 times now word for word by the instructions and it's done perfectly. Called Painless' Tech Line and they were less than helpful to say the least. Anyone ran into this problem or have any advise? Anything is appreciated.

ok this is tough not being able to see it myself your not in Colorado by chance? did you check your brake switch clearance? otherwise if I had to guess I bet your harness is incorrect more then anything which is easy enough to fix for me and a DVM but not someone who doesn't know automotive electronics

i feel your "pain", we just installed a painfull (painless) wire harness in my dads cj5 and finaly after 2 years have redone almost everything. painlesses tech line is for sure about the worst when it comes to help. there favorinte saying i think is "well just read your manual that came with the kit and that should help you"! well if you already went through the $%*&#$ manual 20 times and it is done rite than a litte help would be nice. all of our problems were in the charging system. the wire wire set up that came with the kit had to small of gauge wire. in your case it is hard to tell not being able to see it i will keep it in mind.

glad to see that i was not the only one out there that found painless wiring to be painful.
