Smile HEY WHATS UP
4 what u want to do if i were u just go with a 2" bl cause u already got a 4" lift. When I did my CJ I just use the stock springs and did a soa and it gave me 5" or so just the axle tube thickness and Im running 35s with no bl.

Patriot it would be cheaper in the long run to get a 6" lift or add a BL to the 4" you have. I've got to get my Jeep washed and I'll take some pics of what I did. With the SOA don't forget your steering that will be an expensive problem.

I'm not just looking to clear the 36" tires I'm looking for a better suspension set up. SOA not only gives you more lift but better ground clearance, better articulation, and a better ride . I'm not looking for the easy way out. I enjoy modifying my Jeep and the fact that I'm a metal fabricator by trade makes it easier to try new stuff.

I'm using YJ springs with a rancho full length add-a-leaf and a MORE shackle reversal kit. I don't have it all back together but I'm going to be trimming fenders (and using bumpstops if necessary) to clear the tires. The brackets are pretty simple to make if you know what you're doing (I don't so I went with the MORE kit). The 6 or so inches of lift you get with a spring over may be enough for 36's. If not, the full length add-a-leaf is an option for another inch or two.

I run stock front waggy springs on all 4 corners. The centering pins of the waggy springs are offset. Therefore you can also legthen your wheelbase. The stock waggy springs are equal to a 2in. CJ lift.

Going well. I got it all together a few weeks ago to see how it would sit and set the pinion angle. Now it's all apart again for final welding. I'm also taking this time to box some of the frame that was getting a little spongie. I fabbed up some new spring hangers that rotate with the spring to help with binding and let everything flex a little better. I went with the superlift 1" YJ springs off E-bay, my only concern is they only have 3 leaves. I might be pulling them back out and adding another leaf if their too soft. I ended up ordering a set of 37" SSR's. I really like my 33's so I figued if it aint broke don't fix it. I post some pics when it's back on the ground. Thanks for the inquiry.

This CJ-7 has Custom Alcan leafs with aprox 2" lift (+ SOA =7" lift over stock, Jeep also has a 1" BL).

The fronts are 6" longer then stock, rears are 4" longer. It clears 37's (SSR's) no problem.

Here is the front suspension:

and the rear traction bar:

Great pics, thanks! If I had the $ right now I would definately go with alcan springs. I'll run these springs this year and maybe go with alcans next year if these don't hold up, or perform like I hoped. I like the fact that they'll make them different lengths with the center pin still in the stock location.

I just finished my SOA. Used BDS 4" and ended up with a bit more lift than I planned. Thinking about maybe dropping back to a 2" or so.

I went with rancho re 44044's and they're just right with my 38" Tsl sx's. Or can you take a couple springs out and replace with some shorter lift springs.

I did my SOA w/Black Diamond 3" springs, already had them so I went the cheap way and just used them. It was way too much lift for 36's, so I went to 38's, still a little much but I wheeled like that for almost 2 years, went to 39.5 Pitbulls and it's just right. I tried something a little different to control axle wrap, instead of building a traction bar, I built extra long perches, my perches are 8" long and in 3 years I've never had issues with axle wrap.
Full width SOA w/2" BL, 1" shackle lift, 3" Black Diamond springs, and 39.5 Pitbulls-

Robin, I love the stance of your Jeep I'm going to try the RE (rubicon express) 1.5"reverse eye leaves with 37/14.00/15 iroks.

did you make your own flat fender?

Thanks for the compliment, yup I built my own flat fenders, being a welder/fabricator by trade has it's advantages Cool A couple friends of mine use the RE reverse eye springs, from what I've seen they're nice flexy springs.
