I'm getting something back from Uncle Sam for a change and am going to do another mod to my jeep, but I'm not sure what. So I figured I'd have some fun with it and do a poll. I hope to have around $1500 to spend. What would you do? My sig pretty explains my jeep so I'm looking for the next step.

Either no one builds cj's anymore or no one comes to this forum It's all good, I'll still be here, building a CJ

Seeing that you are only running a V6 for power, I would build up the 44 and 4 to 1 kit the dana 300. While you are in the tcase i would also add the heavy duty 32 splined output shaft too.

That's the direction I'm leaning towards right now. I'm not a throttle-jockey wheeler(kinda hard to be with a v-6 )and I've run the D44 for 2.5 years with 38's and only broke 4 outers, I moved to 39.5's about 6 months ago and since I've snapped 1 inner long side so far. I have no plans for re-powering, I've run the 4.3 for 6 years and love it. The biggest limiting factor for me at this point is gearing, I may just do the Lomax 4-1 gears, 32 spline out put, and save the rest for a D60. Bone yard 44 shafts are cheap and plentiful around here. I wish I could do a 4-1 and a 60 at the same time, but that aint gonna happen, it'll cost just over $2000 to source and build a 60 the way I want it.

Well, part of the decision has been made, I ordered chromoly shafts for the D-44, yup, I'm nuts I just can't justify the cost of building a 60 the way I want it and with 2 other rigs to maintain(both my sons wheel jeeps) the best route for me at this time is to upgrade the 44. I got a killer deal on Alloy USA shafts and u-joints so they'll be here soon Now I'm waiting on a quote for a 4-1 kit for my 300, hopefully I can do both!

Your not low geared enough? My next mod is a 4.3 and 700r4. With the 258 and t18 in it now I don't have any problems with running 38's. I can't wait to get the 4.3 in.

Well, doing both didn't happen, oh well, at least I got my Alloy USA shafts and u-joints in, so far, so good, they've taken some punishment without so much as a creak or groan.
It's not that I'm not low geared enough, it does well on 40's with 5.13's/4.3/TH350/D300, I just want lower gearing, I'm considering doing a doubler set up with a 203 for more options but I'd have to move my engine forward to avoid chopping up a CJ8 to make it fit while maintaining decent d-shaft angles.
