I've got a friend who has a stock '63 CJ5 (as near as we can tell) and he wants to learn more about it. It's a nice old rig with only 48k original miles and a sawdust spare and the factory hardtop (I think), runs great! I got to drive it for a few miles and now I want one too... but anyway, any info or links would be appreciated.

One question is, where was the spare tire carried? It's just laying in the back, but was there a OEM carrier swingout or side mount?

This also came with a salmon pink factory paint job (which was later repainted to dark blue but the original is under the hood). Wierd!

a 63 would have had a side mount. at least my 67 did originaly, however i put a swing out on it. there should be 3 threaded holes on the back pasenger fender. this is where the tire would have originaly been.
