my dad and i both have cj jeeps he has a '79 cj5 and i have a '77 cj7. we live in montana and use our jeeps alot. mostly for hunting wich in montana can be very cold. we both, just last year took out our stock heaters wich couldn't even defrost your windshield and put in the Flex a lite Majave heaters. need less to say they suck. my dads has already wore out he fan in his and niether puts out any heat. and yes the engine temp is hot enough to efficiantly run a heater. does anyone out there know of a heater that acctualy works? thanks adam

I took out my stock heater motor and replaced it with one from a '77 or 78 blazer. I don't know if your heater is like mine ('80 model cj5) but I don't see why you couldn't do the same. the blazer heater motor puts out about twice the air on high. All I had to do enlarge the heater motor hole with a hole saw. There is a site on the net that explains how to do it. It was easy, the longest part was to make the strap my hole saw would drill into to keep the saw stable. total time was about an hour. here is the site w/ the info. USE THE PART # 102E. Advance Auto doesn't list Seimens, but it did have this part #.

I have found it. 301hb heater craft hearter. IT WORKS. 40,000 btu and 366 cfm on high. this heater is made for a boat but is the same as a car heater. it has gobs of heat and enough air flow to heat a big cab. it puts out about the exact amount of heat and air as my 01 f-350.
