A guy where I work has a 2003 Liberty, and Wednesday the right side ball joint broke while his wife was coming home. She was pulling into the driveway, so no one was hurt. But had she been on the highway at speed it could have been very bad to say the least. The Liberty had never been off the road, or abused in any way.
He did find a lot of infomation about the large number of ball joint failures on the web. The NHTSA web site has reference to the problem. and he found information on the investigation. Seems like Daimler Chrysler does not want to take care of the problem.
Anyway just thought this may be information Liberty owners should be aware of.
