here is a few places to look at WWW.propanecarbs.com
WWW.propaneguy.com

I read that propane is 110 octane so good for higher comperssion engine. A completely stock engine will lose about 10% of its power. A good magazine is jpmagazine december 2004

I ran propane on my 79 J20 Jeep with a 360. I bought the vehicle used and it was installed on it. I have used it at elivations in excess of 8500 feet and have noticed little power differences i.e. towing a trailer will affect it. the unit i have has the propane head mounted above the carb, 2BBL and I seem to get 12 14 mpg with propane and 8 to 10 with unleaded. I just switched to a 4BBL and have not reinstalled the propane yet...need to add a larger hood scoop to accomadate the taller manifold and carb.
