Well 1st off let me say hello to the fellow board members here..A little bio about me..Outside of the norm with dreds and being from NYC origally you wont find me with 24" spinners and 30 sereis tires on a truck..My 1st 4WD was a 79 cherokee 2 door with reacrhed springs and 32" mudders..It had a 360 with a TH400 trannhy and the quadratrac..I had that for a few years and ran some of the mud trails in south jersey and manily did just basic runs down sugar sand trails in wharton forest near atco NJ..My next truck was a mazda MPV van AWD..Dont laugh at it though as i had installed some 27" swapers on that while i had it for the sand trails..NOt long after having the MPV van i scored a 79F 250 with a full floater rear 351M and a 4 speed for $500..It had a 3" body lift and 33s".I squeezed some 36" goodyears from my buddies H1 and ran with the front diff welded up..There wasnt much rocks that i found in south jersey so i headed into PA a lot..The rusted frame on the ford actually helped it twist and flex wich probally helped me out on the rock trails in pa..Its been a few years since ive had a 4WD and recently after talking with my boss he sold me a super clean K5 frame and body is near pefect and teh interior is completly restored. It was either this or spend an estimated $6000 or swapping a V8 into my full size chevy van and slapping a dana 44 under the front..I think i made the right choice after looking at the 4WD vans in personand on the net..Looks like 33s" are as big as one would want to go unless you want to pay attention to your clearance on interstae bridges..

So I just got my hands on a 86 K5..its pretty clean as the body and frame are in great shape..The interior is perfect but i need running gear..Its got a phantom grill the front fenders are strecthed and sectioned..It has shaved handles and a steeel cowl hood..

Well anyways I need running gear..Id like to run 37" tires on it as ive found a place that sells used hummer H1 tires for $100 ea shipped..
My budget is almost nill but i work at a junk yard that sells 92 or newer parts...I have two rear axle choices..A 2WD suburban full floater rear with drum brakes and a full size ford van rear Dana 60 with disc brakes..So my question is will the 2WD subbie rear bolt right in without problems or will i need to relocate the spring perches?Or would the ford rear be a better solution even if I have to relocate the perches?

Also will a NP205 from a 94ish fullsize work in the older frame?I plan on running a BBC mostly stock behind a 4L60E and throttle body injection..Or possibly a cadyy big block 500 cid behind a TH400..Not sure as thats a long long way away..Thanks for the help..
