I just bought an "87 Jimmy. I plan to fix it up as a 4wheeling/hunting truck for my husband and kids. I know it sounds wierd but it has a NP 261 transfer case instead of a 241. Anyway, the transfer case does not seem to be engaging and just wanted to know if it was worth rebuilding or should I get a differnt one. My husband will push this vehicle! Any thoughts or infor would be greatly appreceiated!

Correction! I cleaned the dirt and grim off and the ratio is 2.61. The transfer case is a 208. Sorry about that. Working on a 4wheel drive is totally new to me so bear with me!
