I have no luck - or nor brains - one or the other.
I tried hooking up the ESC, Servo and radio stuff last night. On the TQ3, channel one is for steering and two is for throttle. I hooked up the servo and ESC that way. The servo works (using the steering control) but the ESC does not respond to setup nor will the motor move. I switched the motor to one (steering) and the servo to two (throttle) and they both work perfectly - but using the wrong controls. Steering via throttle and throttle via steering. So both channels are receiving power and signals - its just that the motor doesn't like the channel its supposed to be using. Whereas the servo likes both!!! I cannot figure this out. I used both the TQ3 TX and the stock WK - both with the same results. Does anybody have any suggestions? Where's gv280z when you need him?? Hey Sean I'm here bro
Does the transmitter have any throttle adjustments on it? I've got two Futaba's that allows you to turn down the forward and reverse voltages. Does the esc have an on / off switch? I guess you've already gone through all of this since you were able to make it work on the channel 1 huh. So when you've got it plugged into Channel 2, you cannot turn on the esc to even go through setup; The reason I mentioned an on/off switch or not is because my XL-5 has only a button you have to press and hold with the transmitter turned on to get the esc to turn on. There's not many options I can really explore because it's just a wierd anomoly because it works on channel 1 and not on 2. I'm not even going to insult you by asking you to make sure you're not plugging into the battery elimination circuit so I know that couldn't be it. Are you using Deans or Tamiya connectors? I don't know if it could be a power issue or not...just keep screwin with it I guess...try another reciever. |

hrmmmm, not even going into setup mode? have you read the giant moped thread on rcc, hopefully there will be a question just like this, batteries, wiring double checked etc... keep tinkering, took me a while to setup my moped right, it will refuse to work until you set it up perfectly, lets hope you didnt get a lemon one! keep us updated

Here's what I'm thinking and I'm not yet at home to test it out BUT
my batteries have not been charged in at least three weeks - perhaps more. Nimhs do discharge, from what I understand, pretty quickly if left alone. I think my battery is low and the ESC is taking the charge from the throttle channel and running it into the steering servo as a safety precaution (don't want your "crawler" to run away on you when the battery gets low!!!). That is why the motor works on the steering channel (its getting the extra voltage) while not on the throttle because the ESC is taking it from there. There is some charge gettting to the motor becuase their is resistance to turning the shaft when the ESC is turned on. So, in a nutshell, the ESC is sucking volatage from the throttle because the battery is low. The servo requires less currnt and will work on the low volts being fed to the throttle channel. The bumped up voltage to the steering channel is enough to allow the motor to work/the ESC to be set. With the servo running off the throttle channel it is much slower/weaker than off the steering channel. The Moped CAN be setup when I run it off the steering channel, so its not a matter of it NEVER getting into setup. It just doesn't like doing it while hooked up to the throttle channel. Hope I haven't confused everybody but I REALLY think this is my issue. What say you? Yes, the Moped has this function of taking current from the throttle and dishing it off to the steering. sounds plausible I guess.

Plausible, yes. But not the answer.
Because everything work so good on the wrong channel, i.e., sttering was strong on the throttle control and the throttle was great on the steering control, I saw only one option (besides trying a new RX and waiting weeks - AGAIN) and that was change the contacts inside the TX. I went inside the TQ3 and simply swapped the wires on the throttle and steering controls - BINGO - works like a charm. Now I have the TX back together, the new servo mounted and adjusted, the ESC setup and all the electronics fitted back into the chassis (neater than before, I might add) First impressions around the house are d@mn good. The new Tower Pro MG945 servo is really strong compared to the stock and for 15.99 shipping included, how can you go wrong? The 55t coupled with the 96/15 gears and the Moped make a buttery sweet ride - very smooth and S.. .L...O...W and torque-y Finally after three weeks of waiting and two days of hair-pulling frustration, all is well with the world again. Its too late to post pictures but if any wants to see some just let me know and I wil oblige sometime tomorrow. Tex:
The torque that that this motor (55t) and gears (96/15) creates, I can't wait to see this thing on the rocks myself. And the new servo is wickedly (?) strong - its nice to be able to make steering adjustments while at a standstill or even while under strain. tex, its a whole new world, man!! Drop-in gears (from a NUMBER of different sources and not some guy (Flapding) making them in his garage!! and a wide range of motors. Interchangeable electronics. My poor old NB is beginning to look like a dinosaur - as much as I still love itm, I find it SO HARD to go back and drive it now!!! I`ve been to the land of milk and honey and its called WK!!! I`m happy! yes yes, I think that after all this suspense and anguish that a vid is in order
( if nothing else, it will make us jealous I'd like to see how that gearing and motor work out personally ! ! ! |

I have always to like the crawler which crawled slowly, as a truth crawler.YELLOW-CRAWLER has this quality, it is enough slow . I have to give torque of 120/1 to him…. it does not belong to HG.... but I like it still terribly.

loulou, actually you could say YELLOW-CRAWLER is hobby grade. When it came out of the box it was basically a toy grade.
What you have done is taken it apart and turned it into a capable RC crawler. Much improved over the origional. |

nice nice, good to hear! are you going to hook that fan up to it? since it has no heat sinks i think it would be a pretty pimp idea. my shi tty tlt shocks keep on busting any time i take it out... im going to make it compression instead of droop for less strain, lets hope it works as good, lets see some vids!
