They don't say if they ship to Canada or not. I did manage to find the motor at another shop in the US for 17.00 but the darn shipping was 18.00!!!! Shipping is the same (18.00) from TowerHobbies as well. That's a total of 35.00 US when I can get my LHS to order me one for 26.00 CDN - provided they are in stock with the supplier!! I am awaiting word re availability righ now.

Heard back from LHS and was told they can't get one until "mid June". At first it was late May and now its mid-June so who knows what it actually end up at!!! It appears to be the motor of choice for crawling and I guess the company can't keep up with the demand. Anyway, its not like were "suffering" with the stock 27t motor. Its still hauls my crawler's a$s up/over some rough stuff!!!

Hmmm - the cost at Great Hobbies is 27.99 PLUS shipping while my LHS will get me one for 26.99 with no shipping!! Now, if they can only find one!!!

Sean

dudes, gotta rack up your post count to 30 in rccrawler to see the forsale section, if not, a bunch of vendors there do good deals to canada, try CPE crawford performance engineering, he shipped me a moped for the same he ships to the yanks, 30 even! when i have a bit i will snoop around for you, are you sure you want the 55t? ive been reading the specs of the 65t and the torque leap is huge between them, more so than 45 - 55 etc... il keep you posted!

thanks for that info......

as for the 55t - I kinda look at it as everyone is buying them.. there are either a lot of people that don't know what they are doing or a lot of people that do... whichever it is - they are sold out all over ( I'm guessing that they do know what they are doing )

but that's only my 2 cents

I think that the 55 is a trade off - more torque but still a little SPEED when you want it - as oppossed to torque only ..

my LHS checked and they can't get their hands on one till next month Frown

My concern with the 65t is will it twist off the front drive shafts when you have the diffs locked? There is also small issue of the 65t being just a tad too big and a little bit of trimming has to be done. There are few people running the 65t in the WK but it seems that most run the 55 - I could be wrong, though.

so can the stock esc handle the 55 turn. or would you have to go ahead and get a new esc?

It appears to go the other way actually - the manual states that it can safely handle a 20t but no lower. There is no mention of the higher turns being a risk to the ESC.

65t is the same size will fit perfectly, but yeah the 55t is the bread and butter of crawling... just too quick for me, it had crazy wheelspin, i guess it just comes down to taste!

hey SeanD,
how hard was it for you to make that steering servo thing. also where did you get the design from (RCCRAWLER). cause i have thought about looking in the thread there but there are so many pages.

here is the actual link to the PDF ( top one of the two shown )

( WK Plans.pdf )

http://www.projecttwin.com/files/WKtemplates/

just print it out and hack away Big Grin

( so, did yours come in yet ?? )

( people have used everything for the mount from plastic to aluminum they got from an egg flipper at the dollar store - the plastic will give unless it's really stiff )

ksully:

It took about two hours to make mine. I used a drill press, a hack saw and dremel with a small cutoff wheel. I printed the template, cut it out and glued it onto piece of 1/8 aluminum plate using kids paper/hobby glue. I used a hole saw on the drill press to cut a nice clean radius where the mount goes over the diff cover. The rest I cut with the hacksaw and dremel. If you take your time, you can create a very professional looking piece. I am not saying mine looks CNC but a lot of people would not know I made it myself unless I told them.

If you are using 1/8 aluminum, like I did, you really don't need to fully "box in" the servo and you don't need to cut out the third leg. Have a look at the templates that phatchantz refered to and then have a look at my images.

Direct link to template:
http://www.projecttwin.com/files/WKtemplates/WK%20Plans.pdf

Using the thicker material makes the cutting job that much easier - in terms of less cutting, that is. Still, 1/8 aluminum cuts likes butter with a hackcaw.

In this later image, you can see that I shifted my servo so that its located behind the mount. This allowed for better aligning of the steering linkages.

Thanks. With the exception of the radius around the diff cover, all cuts are straight lines. I forgot to mention that I used a small file but that should be naturally assumed.

I was slow crawling for 40 minutes in the hot sun (25 degrees is hot for here) on the weekend and the ESC never shut down once. The little fan is working great. I posted about it on the "other" board but very little interest was shown in it. Whodathunkit?
