Here's a vid of one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E1JAQ9B9-k

All I've done to mine is, change to an electronic speed control and water proof the electrics. It's fun to run in the snow. Smile

Here's a pic of mine,

hot d*mn that looks like fun....... any idea if that was electric or not....... did it ever fly through that snow !!..

thanks for those pics of yours..

what did "water proofing" the electronics
involve ?

I've got a spare 2 channel and receiver on the bench - just need a couple of servos......

and now the usd and cdn are running at par - it's a good time ( for me anyway Smile )

The frame is sorta like a metal box. I put plastic on top and taped it to the sides. This seemed to work. Fresh snow allways seems to work its way in.
My local hobby shop just happened to have one in stock.

thanks for the info......... that "bites" about it being the only one....

asked my LHS about them, they used to be carried by Great Plains, but then Kyosho decided to stop out-sourcing and sell them themselves..... my local guy refuses to deal with them, cause he can't build a big enough Kyosho order to make it worth his time..........

oh well, will keep an eye open for one Big Grin

Congrats on the new RC. I only ran it a few times in the soft snow. That stuff still works its way inside. The frame is sorta like a metal open top box with holes cut in the bottom.

To water proof I put a piece of plastic over the open part and taped it to the sides. It's not 100% but it only gets a little wet. Any exposed metal parts I sprayed with oil. I don't see any rust on it so far(one winter).

Mine came 80% assembled. It came with a mechanical speed control(I changed it to a electronic control).

Body came unpainted so I got to choose a color.

I use a 2 channel radio. Also had to buy a set of crystals.

There seems to be quite a following for this RC. You can get ideas for any mods you may want to do.

thsnks for that info.......... I was thinking the same thing that you did with the oil - I hear that this "jig-a-loo" stuff is better for repelling water than wd40,( it doesn't totally evaporate so to speak ) so I might give that a go....

will have to look at another speed controller when I get the paint and other things....

the only mod I have seen so far that looked interesting was a dual motor setup - -

like Mazda says.....vvrooomm vvrrooomm

thanks - lotsa goood stuff - - -

any idea what the "turns" are on the stock 540 that comes with it ? ..

I was thinking of yanking it out and dropping in a spare Saturn 27 ( stock WK motor )... but I don't know if that will get me anything.......

( should arrive this week - picked up all the paint stuff, so I can do the shell a.s.a.p.
was thinking of using "shoe goo" for some of the waterproofing )

finally showed up - picked up a new speed control, tx and rx, and have a spare hitech 645 (?) servo for the steering... gotta get some paint and water-proofing going... shoo-goo is great stuff for those hard to get at places, and if you don't like it - it just peels right off..

after looking at that other site, will make a couple of chassis braces as well ( seems to be a popular mod )

looks like I have lots of time before the snow hits Big Grin

I will try and take pics as I roll along..

ya need a fair amount of torque to get these guys through the snow..

I'm going to start with the stock can - then try a 27 turn, and we'll see what happens ( try different gearing too )..

the big part is body shell prep and paint, the rest should be rather painless ( I hope )

ps: stay away from the snowmobiles, the only ones that I have seen will only run on PACKED snow - they just bury themselves in powder

that 540 turn info cleared things up - I really wasn't sure......... starting body prep..

using ideas from here

RC car airbrush painting guide and FAQ

http://www.cptnet.com/ken/faq.html

really seems to know his stuff - I think that I got the last of what I need today ( paint / pinstripe etc ) - so it's "design" time - (ha)

now, where's that d*mn camera Big Grin

(ps: this is my "winter" kick - can't crawl in the snow we get - havta run the rest of the stable around the basement for the winter to keep the parts moving Smile )

yo Gumbi............. did you apply the decals inside or outside the body - outside I'm wondering about the snow taking them off - inside, the paint eating into them ( ha ).......... can't win...

where are yours ??

thanks !

I put the stickers on the outside. Don't forget there is a plastic protective film on the outside of the body.

Only problem I had was with sticking the velcro strip to the inside of the cab. It pulled the paint off of the body. I put stickers over the damaged paint on the outside of the body, and it looks ok.

Also when you put the window paint mask on make sure it is on good or you may get paintruns. This happened to me.
