Hey there Race fans! Wanted to drop a line showin' off my two new toys which I have yet to recieve.

First off I finally have a true hobby grade racing buggy with which I may even begin to enter in amateur races at a local track I recently discovered Smile It's a Kyosho Ultima Pro in seemingly pretty good condition; with an almost full set of electronics with the exception of a mechanical speed control which I'll have to replace with my 12 turn Intellispeed esc. Check the link here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item...=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001

I'm looking forward to recieving it sometime this week I think.

Secondly, I have recently stumbled across one of my child hood favorite r/c's from Radio Shack. I think I mentioned a long time ago about my big black 4 wheel drive semi truck I used to have and I thought I'd found one earlier this year; which turned out to be a much smaller and different truck..that one became Jr.

Well I finally got my old truck back, which I won for .99 cents plus $15 shipped! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item...=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011

My Blackfoot is also remaining in excellent condition.

Have you got the buggy yet?
They are great to run on gravel. I had a chance to run a Traxxas version this Kyosho. It had a brushless motor and upgraded ESC. And wow it was fun.

Yeah I've got the Rampage, it's wicked sick fast..it came with a 12 turn double wind motor! All I had to do is install my own electronics and modified Intellispeed esc. The thing seriously cooks..it's actually too fast.

I love it. The motor mount is totally adjustable and has very easy access to the pinion and spur gear. I can make changes pretty much on the fly, and I've got an assortment of 15, 13, 12, 9 and 8 tooth pinions I can run.

The car pulls wheelies even with the 12 tooth loaded Smile I've got 2.2 rims and racing spike tires loaded on the rear and front is just stock rims and ribbed buggy tires but I'm trying to figure out how to convert to a truggy. The car is a blast dude.

niccccccccce... when you have a 12 double wind motor are you giving up torque for speed....

( just wondering as I am looking to replace a generic "540" for more go, but don't want to give up the torque..... my LHS guys are into planes and helis so they are not the ones to ask Big Grin )

ps: looked at the link - looks like you got a h*elluva deal on that !

Hey Phatchantz long time no see dude! I'm not a modified motor guru at all...I've only limited general information about them...however, again speaking generally, as you say the lower number of turns a motor has, the more speed and less torque it's got.

Well then you start getting into single, double and triple windings. Most of your stereotypical high speed racing motors are single winds I'm pretty sure...the multiple windings I think tend to be torquier motors. Well, my Atom Smasher (brand unknown) has plenty of power for hardcore acceleration and easy grass cruising, even at low speed.

To replace a 540 motor with a speedier motor and retain good torque you can go with a Trinity Return of the Monster 2 or a later revised version of that motor called the P2K2 Pro, also from Trinity.
