i want to by a jeep from 76 up to 93, and i want to be able to get good components for it, and i don't want to get a jeep with a crapy motor, trans, t-case, or axles. so what im asking is what year jeeps are crapy and what are great. im wanting a weekend toy but good enough to go to moab. can anybody help me out? thanks a bunch.

86 cj7 t176 tranny, dana 300 tcase and look for one with 44's front and rear.. most likely you wont but thats what you want. and a 258 inline 6. then get ready to spend money like a mad man to get it moab ready!

They never came with a D44 up front, just in the rear and only in 1986.
