my so has a lot of problems with his abs brake system on his 1989 cherokee and i would like to swap it to a standard system by removing the brake module, hyd.actuator, airpump and buying a reg. master cylinder, booster , pro.valve and change the lines.can this be done? do i have to change the calipers or rotors in the front? the back brakes are drums.the abs system was a option in 89, i see other 89cherokees with less expensive and complacated systems. thanx ken
there was a friend of mine that had a big chevy truck and hated his abs cause if he was in the woods or somewhere it wouldn't stop he needed the wheels to lock up. When I talked to him he said there was a fuse for it and he just pulled it and pretty much just unplugged the whole abs system. It will still have the system and original abs configuration but its dismantelled, probably not the best way but the cheapest as far as I know.

the module and the air pump or hyd actuator is not working so if i take out the fuse the brakes are still the same [very hard to press down].i took out the brake module [it was full of water] and the jeep acts the same.the brakes started working hard before my son went through a big mud pit and filled the inside of the jeep with water.
