Bad weather, Cristobal got you worried about your camping trip this week? I have just gotten back from my second test of a new tent from Cabella's. It is their extreme weather tent that is more a bomb shelter than tent. Last year the 8x8 one took a tropical storm in stride and more impressively a thunderstorm the next day that packed 60 to 70 mph winds and sounded like you turned a fire hose on the tent I was in. My sons and a Friend were in the XWT and although they were texting each other on cell phones to communicate the tent didn't move. My wife and I tried the 10x10 this year and it held us, 2 large cots and all our gear just fine and took a pretty good blow and rain in stride too.The poles are split about 1/2 way to the ground and don't twist, the rain fly has more tie-outs than a battle ship that uses real rope, not string. Give it a look - you may have a tent tougher than your 4WD.
