I just hope you can take the time to really explore the envelope.

As for me, it's been ages since I was this happy with a vehicle! Better highway manners than an H1 and just as good (for what I want) off-road!

Something a dealer salesman mentioned to me: "the Rubicon warranty is voided if you exceed a 2.5" lift". I found this hard to believe; probably just heresay?

Yeah Mike.. I think that's the real feature that needs testing.. The warranty.

I think I'd have a hard time giving one of those back!

Someone posted on pirate that they broke an axle, and since there were scratches and scrape on the skid plates that they had abused the vehicle and the warranty was voided.

Sounds like a crock to me with jeep advertising it as the most Capable offroad vehicle. The you take it offroad and no longer have a warranty

Good luck on the Rubi testing, let me know the ups and downs. Lookin at driving mine from Michigan to Moab for EJS, if you have any insight from Jeep Engineers as to suspected failure points (for carrying spares) let me know. I'm thinking front axle and driveshaft U-joints for sure, anything else potentially a good look?

If you want the scoop talk to the service manager. Salesmen make up anything they don't know.
On the other hand some service managers are jerks and don't want to work on lifted rigs so they use any excuse to make you go away.

The Auto
Thankfully, Jeep finally added a 4-speed automatic to their lineup. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of automatics in Jeeps - ever. On the positive side, the new auto does shift quite smoothly and is fairly quiet. On the negative side, however, it is nearly impossible to force it to kick down. When merging into traffic a few times, I mashed the pedal to the floor and it never would drop gears. I was almost rear-ended trying to merge. Scary, indeed.

I am curious when your particular Rubi was assembled. I have almost the opposite with my Auto having it kick down when I don't want it to. To that and the fact that locked 1st in anything other than 4low or 2nd at all provides no engine braking when offroading. Haven't really the need on road so.

Lothos, mine is early production, since it's a press car. Built in September.

I also discovered news about the radio and will update the RCBlog today.

Mine was built the first week of November.

Also, having pretty rotten hearing, the radio doesn't seem all that bad to me. The 7 speaker system doesn't replace the stock double duals that are in the dash though. So, all you're really getting is an 8 inch sub and a soundbar with dual 3 inchers. I would have to compare the stock sound system on an '03 vs. the 7 speaker premium to tell.
