Question:
Now that the new Boards have been up for a month or so, we'd like your opinions on them.

We know some of you miss your "tars" and there's nothing we can do about that - sorry.

But hopefully by now you've figured out how to use attachments, subscribe to topics and users, and how to use some of the other neato features.

As it turns out, the cost to run these new boards has come out to be 25% higher than we projected. What that means, is that you guys ARE using some of the features that take more bandwidth.

Please let us know your thoughts. Keep in mind that we CAN go back to the old boards. They are still there, left untouched. However, if we do, we will lose all posts from these new boards and all new users will have to sign up all over again. They are not backward compatible.

Choices:
I love it! Great new features! This rocks!
I like it. I'm happy enough.
Doesn't matter either way.
I miss the old boards, but it's ok to keep these. I'll keep using them.
These new boards suck. Worth trashing to go back.

I miss my TARS, but I like these boards, by far the friendliest around.

Even though I give you a hard time about the TARS, it's not a big deal... just Razzin'

As for the boards, I don't really use any of the new features except the paperclip. There really wasn't anything wrong with the old boards IMHO. I can accept it either way. Maybe someday I'll use some of the new features... who knows? I don't even use the "view posts since last visit" thing... Far too complicated for me Big Grin

For clarity-sake, Art, we're talking about the board website itself - not the folks. Smile

Stupid As I learn more about the new boards, the more I like them. If we need to go for a modest membership fee, you can count me in. I'm not sure I want to know how much bandwidth I take up! Big Grin

Yeah, what he said. The board is just a tool; it's the content that matters. You need to do what's best for you. I like free but you can't be loosing money on it either.

At first I didn't like the new boards, mostly because it was new and I didn't know how to use them. Now, I think they're great. I'd gladly pay a membership fee to keep this thing running. Heck, we gotta keep you, Jenn and the new arrival clothed and fed someway! Razz

I like them but I have one question. Is there a way to get rid of peoples sig's? There is no line that seperates the message from the persons sig so i often keep reading into the sig. It jumbles up the message and often makes it confusing.

Mike, The new boards are great. Still learning how to use the features, The paper clip has been great. I Plan on using that one some more. Its the people who make your Rockcrawler web site and the content. Great bunch of people here and their fun.
If a fee needs to be charged for RockCrawler, fine by me.

I like 'em. I really like the little yellow arrow. That quick post box that pops up works really well when I'm on a slow connection.

New features are great! I really like posting Polls on any board, sort of makes the Polls Board a little obsolete.

I know P4 misses his TARS, for me its the smaller screen font. Little hard on the eyes, but if I sit far enough back. . .

Just to sum everything up really short:

I like the new boards, I miss the TARS but all well, 25% is a lot...I'll pay a membership fee. Big Grin

Oh, one more Idea...I belive that we should allow people to join and not have to pay, but they will not have all the board options because there are many that dont use it all sence they dont visit often.
