You know what sucks about having big tires and being in the middle of no where, when your geer box bolts break off, you find out how good your freinds are. So there we were the jeepillac chained to the front of my friends 90 XJ. It took awhile but we got it off of the trail so I could get it with a tow truck. Have any of you had things like this happen, or is it just my luck. He did take pics with his phone. I will post just as soon as we can get them from his phone to the computer.

I broke one bolt and the other 2 were loose and bent. My steering box brace was also loose. It took a bit of work to get the broken bolt out.
Mark 89 Jeep XJ With stuff. Have Jeep will break! What my Jeep lacks is size, I make up for in stupidity! http://trailkrawlers4x4.org |

Busted bolts, hell you got lucky. I fractured the freakin frame rail. I suggest you spend a couple bucks and buy these items.
http://www.c-rok.com/sb.html http://www.mountainoffroad.com/catalog/SteerBrace/brace.htm These will re-enforce the frame rail as well as replace the weaker bolts that come from the factory. Deffinatly worth the investment. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MSHarnett, 97 XJ - Black Sport, 4.0L AW4 6" Skyjacker/RE, 33X13.50 Swampers, D30 & 8.25 locked up |

I added a 1/4 inch plate on the outside of the frame rale and incorperated it in with the front bumper braket. And used grade 8 bolts this time.
