I just perchest a 1990 Jeep XJ Cherokee and resently the 4wd has been acting up it hasn't been engaging. It has the air actuator, I tryed the cable but I didn't like it. I have had better luck w/ the manule locking hub w/ my past vehicles. I have been looking for the manule hubs that might fit my XJ, but had no luck. If someone can help me figure something out, with out spending a lot of cash. Up for anything but the purchase of a different jeep. Please notify me. [email] zyrak_1@hotmail.com

I think Warn makes a kit to put manual hub on. But it isn't too cheap. I think people have done their own converions useing Bronco II/Ranger parts. But satill the conversion isn't too cheap. You might be just better off ditching the the split axle replacing it with a one piece axle makeing a block off plate that seals the hole where the disco is. You will also have to do some axle seal work then you will not have to worry about locking hubs at all. yes this will work and Dana ditched the disco in later years all together.

The two manual hub kits I know of are Warn, = big bucks, and Milemarker wich only a little less expensive. You might want to try NAXJA.org's (North American XJ association)boards for some tech info on the homemade conversion, or maybe pbb (Pirates of the Rubicon Board.)
