I have acquired a Dana 44 from a Comanche and am going to put it under my Cherokee. I have had new perches put on the axle and have had it regeared... But one problem: I cannot find the right size U-bolts and spring plates for it. Those of you who have done this swap, what did you do? Thank you in advance.

I got mine from Napa autoparts for $12 each or something like that. I also know any place that makes springs can custom make you some for cheaper.

Did you get the spring plates at Napa as well? Finding the spring plates has been the biggest ordeal. Currie has a set of universal plates for about $90, but I was thinking I could find a cheaper alternative.

Take all four of your spring plates to your local 4x4 shop or spicer driveline specialist. I had my guys at Perry Hall Power
custom bend me 9/16" threaded rod for $8 a u-bolt with bolts and washers. They fit right up on my Dana 44s. Most capable shops should be able to do this for you. Happy wheeling!

to find plates go to a junkyard or ask your local 4x shop if they have some older Dana 44 plates that you could at least template from if not have.

Ditto. I just had to squeeze the U-bolts slightly to get the bolts through the holes.
