My buddy runs a Klune, he loves it. I think they are the way to go because you have some many choices of gear combo's for different terrains. I think DownEast Offroad had a Dana20/Klune-V combo for YJ's,XJ's,andTJ's. I no longer see it on thier site but it looked to be like the ultimate t-case set-up.

I don't get it. Wha is the difference between getting the Klune and useing the 203 as a doubler? Or is the klune that long? I figured a trany - 203 and a 203 to transfer case adapter would be longer that just the klune. I could be wrong. I do know that that the 203 20 doubler will probably be cheaper though.

The Klune-V Extrem Underdrive is 6.5" long. The adapter or spacer needed to a 205 or D300 is 1" long, so the total length added is 7.5" in these applications. Other applications do not require a spacer, such as an NP231.

On the Klune-V / Bronco dana 20 combo: This set-up is available from http://www.High-Impact.net. Overall length, complete is 18.5"

Lemme know if you need to know anything else about them.

I run a Klune 4:1 in my TJ.

Got it from High-Impact.

It gives me the following gear options, effectively 4 different gear-ranges.

A 203-203 gets you more low gearing, but it duplicates all gears, and doesn't give alot of options.

I effectively have 20 forward gears and 4 reverse gears, and only have duplicate overlap in 20 of those 24 spots.

Hi Range (1:1)
1st 0.85
2nd 1.00
3rd 1.45
4th 2.33
5th 3.93
Rev 4.74

D20 Lo Range Only (2.46:1)
1st Lo 5th 9:1
2nd Lo 4th 10:1
3rd Lo 3rd 15:1
4th Lo 2nd 24:1
5th Lo 1st 40:1
Rev Lo Rev 48:1

Klune Hi Range Only (4:00:1)
1st Hi Klune 5th 14:1
2nd Hi Klune 4th 16:1
3rd Hi Klune 3th 24:1
4th Hi Klune 2nd 38:1
5th Hi Klune 1st 65:1
Rev Hi Klune Rev 78:1

Klune & D20 Double Lo (10:1)
1st Lo 5th 34:1
2nd Lo 4th 40:1
3rd Lo 3rd 59:1
4th Lo 2nd 94:1
5th Lo 1st 160:1
Rev Lo Rev 192:1

I find that running just D20-lo (with the 2lo twin-stick option), works for a good portion of trail-running.

I can easily throw the front output on, if I need it; and if things get really slow and technical, then I can bring the Klune online.

I have also found that being about to be driving along in high-range, and then needing to jump off the road and climb an unkept road or trail is quite simple by just enganging the Klune only, and keeping everything else in Hi-Range.

Alot of gearing options.

Now, with the Atlas 4speed being on the market with a 10:1 low-gear, you can also go that route and get the same gear-options as a Klune offers.
