..... after switching over from the not-so-dark side!

2 weeks ago, I waved bye-bye to my 1997 TJ, which I had spent 2 years building to a fairly moderate level for what I was doing. It had reached the stage where it was waiting for the next cash injection to get the 8.8 and 35's under it (which I had sitting in my basement). I had reached the stage that I simply had to liquidate in order to take care of things, and before the TJ ran me into the ground.

So last week, I managed to pick up a 88 xj, bone stock, 4 spd auto tranny and 3.55's. It's every bit as basic as my last one (it was a Sport), but I figured that the mechanical knowledge was worth carrying over to my next vehicle.

And besides, I couldn't just walk away from the brand that easily, could I?

So this week has been the routine maintenance - de-sludging the tranny (yikes!), flushing the block, trying to pass emissions etc etc. I have a full tune up ahead of me, and I've already discovered the CCV breather is shot.

Once more back under the hood......

88 XJ, millions of miles......

Hey Innes - glad you're Jeepin' again! I've been enjoying my 'new' TJ at every opportunity. A few new beauty marks, but nothing broken so far! We'll have to hook up and wheel sometime. Taking my brother out next week - he's got an '83 XJ with a mild lift and 31"s - you'd be welcome to come along if you like.

1997 TJ Sport (TF999), 31" Wild Country LTR mud tires, 3.5 TeraFlex & discos, 1" Daystar BL/ML, Tera SYE, PSC Sahara Rockers w/step rail, BD tie rod, Procomp LCA's, tank skid, K&N drop-in... strategizing the buildup!
