my zj isnt a grand cherokee nemore i dont know what to call it but need help with steering shake when it goes over bumps only after 40 mph under 40 it rides fine but over that every bump throws it out and shakes real bad until you almost stop the truck.im thinking the track bar is not right.

You're experiencing what is known as "Death Wobble". It's common on lifted Jeeps with coil sprung front axles that have more than a few miles on them.
Basically what happens is that all the play in your steering and suspension starts to oscillate at the same frequency. There is no one cause for DW and consequently there is no one cure either. You just have to go through your entire front end checking all components to make sure that they are in good shape. Just a tip as well: just because you can't move it by hand doesn't mean that it's not loose when 2-3000 lbs starts leaning on it. |

yeah i went throughthe front and found the bracket for the track bar from the skyjacker lift was coming loose so i broke out the welder and went all the way around it and tightend the bolts back down ..
took it out and its ridin fine a little bit out of alignment but not major 93 grand cherokee 5.2 v8 318 auto 4 speed o/d all time t-case with low range 3 inch skyjacker and 1.75 spacers.cv front drive shaft.15x8 us steel rims.33/12.5 mt tires.flowmaster.intake.power programmer . no doors .chop top.roll bar .leather lol..custom redneck sound system lol...front military steel bumper.changed the cvs in the front to u joints..< best mod i think..lots of other weight reduction.. |
