Too cool guys. My first ride was a 1964 Oldsmobile F85 Cutlass. Factory buckets, console and tach, with a 330 4bbl under the hood. Bought it from my Grandfather in 1973. Sure wish I had it back.

Mine was a metallic blue, instead of red. But other than that, this is what she looked like.
My first 4x4? A 1978 Subaru Brat. Bought it brand new off the lot. Loads of fun to wheel around dune buggy parks!

Cheater???? Excuse me sir, but the topic does read : "post your first vehicle" NOTHING was mentioned about it being a 4x4. As for Subaru, that little Brat was an absolute hoot to take out and play with! While it wasn't much for hard core or extreme stuff, it was still fun, and still a 4x4. I am alive today because of the sturdiness of that little truck!!! Big Grin FYI...it was replaced by a 1976 Internation Scout! A full blown *tank* by anyone's standards.
I wouldn't trade the driving skills I learned from street rods and sports cars (And emergency vehicles) for anything! Time and again it has paid off in avoiding collisions and getting out of those proverbial tight spots. Even when driving my 4x4's on the street, that knowledge comes in handy!

If I'm still a "cheater", so be it! But three out of the four vehicles in my driveway are 4x4's, so Razz

Not a problem. Smile It's all in good clean fun! But I gotta tell ya, that little truck helped me survive slamming into two stationary vehicles when I was doing 60 mph. I even cranked it back up and drove it out of the middle of the freeway! What a way to start your morning. Eek I put in the little Razz hoping you'd know I wasn't PO'ed at ya! Big Grin

A powder blue Ford station wagon? Come on now, if I can post about a Subaru, you can put up a pic of the predecessor to modern day SUV/soccer mom rigs. Besides, station wagons are trying to make a comeback.

Dude.. the brat had 4low. so it was a 'real' 4x4.

My first car was a 91 z24 cavalier. Not all that exciting. Had it for a year when I traded it in for the first 4x4, the 1997 TJ.

I believe I can take over as biggest loser in the first car competition. It was a dark grn 1970 Ford Maverick. 200 6 banger with 3 on the tree. I got it on my 17th birthday. It wasn't a gift tho. My *gift* was that my dad let me buy it myself after he picked it out. I think taking him with me on my test drive of a 1969 Vette was prolly a mistake.

Actully, now that I put some thought into it I never really considered my YJ "mine" it was always "my dads and mine" simply because he paid for it when we got it.

My first vehicle that I paid for was a 1972 CJ5 Renegade, that in all reality was my first. It had a 304 AMC V8, 3 speed trans and D20 T-case, Narrow track D30 front and D44 rear. It was a sweet little Jeep, I'll find pictures of it later. It had 33's on it...looked good. It was a BRIGHT orange too, one of the orginal Renegade colors. I sold it about 1-2 months after buying it though. I bought a Saturn at my dads dealer wich I got a trade-in value and re-sold it for a normal price wich was $3000. With that came the famous "Project No Bucks" my 1989 Cherokee...wich I ended up putting a whole bunch of money into it. I loved that XJ, then one day my dad comes and tells me he's going to sell the YJ. I put my XJ for sale, got $5,300 for it and bought the YJ off my dad....I couldent let it go. There's something about my YJ that I love and just cant get rid of it!
