My question is what are the symptoms of a bent axleshaft? This is on my wrangler that has a 8.8 ford explorer rearend. For the longest time I have had a vibe at highway speeds that wont go away. It is kinda weired, it comes and goes, but usally seems to be steady at and around (+ or - 3mph) 75mph, below that its pretty smooth, and starts the vibe at around 72 and stays untill I hit about 79-80. sometimes its a good vibe and sometimes it pretty light, and sometimes its almost not there, I can be holding steady speed and it comes and goes, sometimes it will be runing smooth and I hit a slight bump and it comes back. It done this with my old set of tires, had them rebalanced at several diffrent shops and even had them trued. Oh yea I forgot to mention that this vibe is coming from the rear, not the front, but the rear, I am sure of it. I roatated the tires with no effect, no matter who balanced them it was still there. A few months ago I got a set of brand new tires for it and had them put on, it was still there, took back to shop and they rebalanced, still there, they tested the tires (road force machiene) and replaced two of them, still there, take it back and they look at things agan and tell me the vibe is a bent wheel, show me witch one, I replace with a brand new one, its still there, I finally give up and have been living with it for the past several months, but it still starts getting to me. The only thing I have ever ben able to think of was mabey one or both the rear shafts being bent or out of true witch ever you want to call it. Does this sound like symptoms of a bent shaft? The rear axle is a 8.8 from a 96 ferd exploder, and thinking back (almost 3 years ago) I think the one it came out of was in a light roll over, and the more I think about it the more I think I might have a bent shaft. I dont know of anywhere around here to have them checked, but if yall think that I should I will call around and find somewhere to have them checked. or if anyone has any more insight into my problem let me know, or if you need any more info let me know. Thanks.
