Well it's been almost 2 years since I've posted here and visted on a regular basis. I bought a condo in that time and also adopted a retired racing greyhound, as well as volunteer with my local adoption group.

I think where we last left off is that I had aquired some new axles for my 94 Ram with 4.56's in them and was planning on doing an axle swap. Well the axles are still waiting to be installed and the truck has over 200k on it right now.

Well last Feb I leased a 2004 4Runner and that has become my daily driver now. The intent was that it would free up the truck so I could work on it. Best made plans...

The truck was driven very infrequently last year and sat for almost 6 months over the winter with a dead battery. I got the battery replaced last week and have started to work on the truck again. YAY me!

It started right up with the new battery and I've ordered all new parts for a tune up on it and am waiting for them to arrive. Brakes are horrible and their must be air or moisture in the lines because they are spongy and the pedal will go to the floor in a hard braking situation. Otherwise at slow speeds they work great. Got those parts on order too. need to get them done before May so I can pass inspection or else I won't be able to re-register the truck.

Debating what to do with the axles w/ 4.56's in them. I have logistic problems in doing the swap, meang they aren't with me and are at someone elses house. I'd have to be able to swap an axle in a days time since I can't leave the truck in the garage overnight, which doesn't leave room for oops or gotchas. I was thinking about pulling the gears and just installing them in my current axles. Although I've never done this before it seems straighforward enough and I'm not afraid to try. Plus since I don't have to drive the truck every day I can take my time and make sure they are set up correctly. Either that or I take it to a shop and have them do the rear and I can do the front. Whats the going rate on just an install? Anyone close to me want to help. Wink

Oh well, just thought I'd say hi again, I'll be poking around more often now. Smile
