I Pulled a guy out of a ditch last night. He was in a Crown Vic. Very heavy car, sunk very deep in the mud. His car was in the ditch off of the side of US-2 in Escanaba Michigan (Gladstone really, I say Escanaba cause no one knows Gladstone). The car was sunk to the frame in mud and water. The side of the hill he went down was snow covered. Not one place to hook a winch cable to in front of the car, and the rear was under water (very cold ice water). I tried winching him out and the car wouldn't budge with the cable hooked to the side of the car just behind the front tire.
So I hooked a jerk strap to the frame just behind the front driver's side tire and backed my TJ down the hill. I took a running start and nothing. I tried again and moved it slightly. One more run and I was to the top of the hill, as soon as I hit pavement the IROK's started barking and his car came flying up to the highway.

All the time in two wheel drive. I forgot to add that a police officer was on the highway slowing traffic down and providing early warning to drivers for us.
It was a very cool recovery and also a good test of the newly modified TJ. Oh yeah and the IROK's had no problem on the snow covered hillside in the mud.

What axles are you running under that jeep for those 36's, especially barking them on pavement. I bet it would have made for a cool video.

D44 rear, D30 front. I had it in 2 wheel drive.
The big a$$ IROKs sounded really cool barking (not the squeal you get with little tires, but a deep barking) Big Grin

I should carry around a vid camera. My dig has video on it, I'll start carrying that. I bet it would have look funny the little TJ pulling out the crown vic.
