Just a real quick summary, its called (I think) Stak 4x4 “Monster Box” 3 sp t-case. The Low-1 =5.12-1, Low-2=3.12-1, and High is 1-1. They are from El Paso, TX. 356 heat treated aluminum case, 8620 carburized gears, 4140 through hardened shafts, Timkon bearings, 32 spline F&R output, spicer yokes from 1310-1410. Length is 12.3”, Weight=140, is a direct replacement/or adapted for the NP231, NP241, Dana 300, Atlas, and all aftermarket Dana 300 adapters. With the Stak 4x4 Monster Box 3 sp t-case/NV3550/First=4.00/Low gear1=5.12/Low gear2=3.12/rear diff= 4.56/Final=93.39/Final2=56.91. Pretty cool IMO. What do ya think? Like I said before ME=Likey like fat boys like cake kind of likey. From what I have found out there web site is under construction and is not up yet. The page where I found this is on OAG in the crazy fabricator forum. There is a brochure posted. But no email address.

Just got more info:
Our official website official web site, should be up and running sometime tomorrow(02/11/05) We are based out of El Paso, TX, and have been in the manufacturing/CNC machining and CAD design business for 10+years. All the specs and info regarding the Monster Box Three Speed Transfer case will be forthcoming on the website. any requests for info, prices, release dates, etc. can be sent to info@stak4x4.com The monster box will be ready for market sometime this summer. Regarding strength issues, we feel it will outperform any T-Case on the market. An Official press release was forthcoming at easter jeep safari in moab, however you beat us to it. we will have a booth there as well, feel free to drop by and see the Monster Box there.”

Seems like a good idea but $2800 might keep it out of my price range (or i could get a third job)

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!

still $2800 is not far off from what an Atlas 5-1 cost. IMO this is something Ive been thinking about for a long time, wishing someone would do it. Its two t-cases in one. I think its well worth the price considering Rockshop has the 5-1 priced at $2550. Its just a $250 difference but your getting alot more. But I'm for sure going to wait until this thing goes through the paces to make sure its a solid unit. says its as strong/stronger than the atlas.........TIME WILL TELL ALL. Im sure they have a patent on it, so it'll be a while before atlas tries to do the same thing

Why? An auto with a torque converter has no need for a super low range. I like the idea of the 3 speed but its really only needed for manual transmissions, with an auto your crawl is pretty much infinite.

look you may think that an auto has an infinite crawl ratio, but it really doesn't the convertor will only slip so much. i want a little lower low and the 5.0 will be awsome to help with the lack of compression brakind

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!

Their booth was pretty popular. The case isn't in production yet, but their target date is August 1st. Big is the key word here. Not really much larger than the Atlas. They were very polite and didn't bad mouth the Atlas, saying it was a very good gear box. Just didn't offer the advantages theirs has.

I'm not certain that we need 5.44:1 ratio. If you do, the new box is one to investigate.

The reason it weighs 150# or so is because of the massive gears and castings. They had samples of the rough front and back halves. Each was over an inch thick. That much aluminum is pretty substantial. You pick each half up and then you understand why its so heavy. The gears are several times as thick as the D300 parts they had handy. My guess is that while the main market will be to jeepers, the thing is big enough to handle 1 ton truck duty.

Impressive.

Petersons 4Wheel & Offroad made a visit to STaK and they look pleased...

"The transfer case wars have begun!"

"New comer to the transfer case market, STaK 4x4, recently released their three-speed transfer case, (watch for the full story in our January 2006 issue), but as that was going to press, we received word that even more options are coming our way. STaK will now be releasing two new gear ratios for their Monster Box three-speed. The original comes with a 3 to 1 and 5 to 1, but now a 2.43 to 1 and 4.33 to 1 will be available, as well as the first transfer case with a built-in overdrive! Yes, a version with 4.33 to 1 low, 1 to 1 high and .79 to 1 overdrive is on the way. Plus, since their Monster Box was having clearance issues in narrow framed vehicles like early Broncos, that problem has been addressed with their coming B-box that has a slight bend in the case to make it narrower. Expect first glimpses at the Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California on October 8th and 9th. We'll be there - and so should you."
