I hear a popping noise when the clutch is dumped in gear it makes a straining popping noise. It sounds really nasty while turning and engaging in drive. Could it be a wheel bearing? Flywheel? Im just looking for possibilities because I dont hear it when I turn the wheel but I do when im sitting still and starting to drive. (2wheel drive by the way, diesel and 5-speed). Any help would be great.

If you have the money change the locking hubs - 4x4 - every 100K - and always remember the most common way to fry a bearing is to have a dragging front calliper that overheats the hub.
Always have a infared thermometer and check the hub and disk temps - 100 -120 degrees for the hub is OK and 220 for a non-braking run. Cooler the better depending on where you are - here in AZ everything runs hot. |

And heaven help you if you have UNIT bearings - consider the Dynatrac hub upgrade if you do...
