I locked in on a 85 ford 150 4x4 w/ straight 6 300 in very good condition and it has a ganny 4 speed manual trans in it. Its had some maintanace like new single carb, upper valve portion redone,new heater core,water pump,battery and think starter.I would like to change the carb to something bigger and so far all I found is a holly 470 cfm avenger carb which I think is a 2 barrel not sure. Anyone know about straight 6 and what are the best mods to do with it and also the holley 470 cfm carb? If theres something better for the straight 6 since a single carb anything got to be better,lol. I may go to a 351 motor later down the road but for now at leats I will stayn with stright 6 and if I can get enough positive info on upgrading it I may just go that route. I found hooker header that post to add 15-30% more power and like to dual exhuast it so if you been there and done that with this setup let me know. Its got a factory lift but like to go little taller. I don't know anything about the axles under it so like to know what it may have? I was told the front hubs had been rebuilt. Anything else I need to know about this truck and components as far as weak points that needs to be upgraded to beefer parts right off? As far as shocks go what should I get for everyday roads and off roads.
