Got this off an other fourm:

"This is important for ALL people using the Truckhaven area for wheeling.
As you turn off of Hwy 86 onto N. Marina Dr. there's appx. 3/4 mile of
pavement before it turns to dirt. On the south side (left) of the pavement
are some old paved streets. That area is now under developement as a housing
subdivision and is **OFF LIMITS** to ANY camping/wheeling. Over Christmas/New Years
about 200 survey stakes were ripped out and it cost the developer a lot of $$$$
to replace them. At the present time the developer is "Pro 4x4", so let's NOT
fawk this up by damaging the developement."

We lost an OHV park here that was originally a gravel pit for building the dam on a lake. For 30+ years it was home to dirt bikes and 4x4's. Then they built houses right up to the property line ( COE owns the land), and one day woke up to realize thre were people riding dirt bikes right behind their mega$$$ house. So they tried to get the COE to close it blade it out for soccer fields and ball diamonds. Then make the few dirt bike trails remaining into *nature trails* so they'd have a reason to feel good about destroying thre rest of the wildlife habitat there. It's now leased to the town that grew from the subdivision, and they charge for entering what few acres of trails remain after they had well over half the park closed due to "noise".
So ya better get the local clubs involved with the property owner and work WITH him to see what can be done to insure the trails stay open! And weeding out the idiots will help also.

You'd be suprised where people want to live. When I was younger, I never would have dreamed the 15 freeway south, going towards Barstow would become so developed. I remember when there was nothing out there!

I understand the Truckhaven area used to be private property and now the Anza Borrego State park has purchased most of the land, it is undetermined if the land will be state park or part of the Ocatillo Wells OHV area. I got this information from the CORVA people at the event they held out there 2-weeks ago.

Everyone should do all they can with CORVA, CA4WD and The Blue Ribbon Coalation to keep our space open Cool
